Dysfunctional- 2009  Youth Camps

Hello Parents and leaders.

Summer is fast approaching and that means CAMP is just around the corner.

Here’s the latest; No longer is Arizona it’s own Foursquare District.  That means the way we do camp will be changing.  We are now part of the Southwest District which has 174 churches compared to the former district’s 34 churches.  That requires that we have two camps.  One will be for Jr Highers and the other for Sr Highers.  Because of the many changes in regards to camp, please read all included materials and encourage your teen to do the same.

Please find all the paperwork you need for camp available for download below.  First, here are a few facts we need highlight...

JUNIOR HIGH Camp is Monday, July 13th through Friday, July 17th

For those in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade during 2008-2009 school year.

SENIOR HIGH Camp is Monday, July 27th through Friday, July 31st

For those in 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade during 2008-2009 school year.

The deadline for paperwork and payment is Wednesday, June 24th. It is okay to get things in early, but not late.  Please make checks payable to “Grace Chapel”. The cost is $199 per camper.  That includes registration, transportation to and from Grace Chapel, and breakfast before we leave at Grace as well as lunch on our way home.

Please plan to arrive by 6a and we will plan to leave Grace at 6:30a on the first day of camp (Monday). We will plan to arrvive back at Grace by 5p on the last day of camp (Friday).

We will provide breakfast at church as well as a drink and snack for the ride to camp.

Unlike recent years there will be camp fires, swimming, and wildlife at camp.  Please note and prepare for each of these.

This camp is in the mountains of CALIFORNIA. It will be cold!  As low as 45 degrees at night.  So, pack a jacket.

Please place all of your camper’s prescription medications in one Ziploc bag with their name on the outside.  Please include instructions in the bag for when these meds should be taken.

Spending money is not required, but usually desired.  T-shirts are not included at this camp.  They will be available for $10 and no pre-ordering is necessary.  Camp videos will be available at the end of each week for $8.  Camp photos will be available for $5.  Note the charge for paintball is $20 and extra paint costs extra money.  The camp Snack Bar is MAJOR LEAGUE and will be open during free time every day and during late night every night.  With all that said, please bring what ever you believe to be an appropriate amount.

Remember, whether it is money or stuff, avoid bringing anything that might be a temptation for someone else to steal.

Personal music players are unnecessary and should be left at home.  Time traveling to and from camp as well as free time should be spent interacting with others.

Cell phones are permitted and should only be used as emergency communications between teens and parents/leaders.  If your teen cannot refrain from answering texts or calls, they should not bring their phones along.  Cell service may be unavailable.  The camp office number (emergencies only) is 909-867-5733.  My cell is 480-252-3929.

As with any trip, remember, that parents are responsible for transportation home for any camper not complying with any camp rules or Grace Chapel ministry expectations.

It’s a great time for growth, relationships, and discovery, but it’s first and foremost about God.  I would encourage you to make every effort to have your teen in attendance.
